Bathtime!

Masey-Moo's umbillical cord fell off so we celebrated with a warm bath!
For the most part he found it very relaxing but Uncle Tyler did get a shot of his funny face.

Side note: Mommy rushed to Target the next day to buy washcloths that were more manly in color!

Friday Photo Dump

Lots of snuggling and cuddling action this week and I couldn't be happier! My brother Tyler is here now and Oma is on her way back to Germany. It has meant the world to me to have my mom here with me these past few weeks. It was especially nice to be able to celebrate her birthday with her! Addie has been such a big help to me. She loves singing to Mason, burying him in stuffed animals, and holding him. Her favorite part of being a big sister, "When he opens his eyes and looks at me mommy!" Sean took a day off this week and he and his little guy had some manly bonding time riding in the truck to the pediatrician's office. Our littlte man is packing on the ounces like a champ! Time is already passing too quickly.

Here is a peek at our week:

How can you resist this handsome fella?

Addie is adjusting quite well in her new role as big sister!

Yup, he is pretty awesome!

Uncle Tyler flew in on Monday...the girls are officially outnumbered now!

Oma wants to make sure Mason grasps the concepts of Calculus
(I could have used this when I took the class!)

Birth Story

Good things come to those who wait...and boy was he worth the wait! So many people have been asking for details about how our little man made his big debut. For those of you interested in the nitty-gritty read on (don't worry it's not graphic). If you just want the summary scroll down for the pictures!

As any mom knows, the first thing on a pregger lady's agenda when she wakes up is to make a bathroom run. So when I woke up just after 4am that is exactly what I needed to do. Much to my surprise this is when my water broke! Perfect timing for someone as OCD about cleaning as I am!

Auntie KT was immediately put on alert and she was here in record time to spend the day with Addie Mae. I tried sneaking out of the house without waking her but I couldn't resist giving her a goodbye hug and kiss. I explained to her that "today is the day mommy has to go to the hospital so that Mason can be born." The proud big sister to be was just as excited as the rest of us.

By the time we showered, threw a few things in a bag, brewed some coffee, said our goodbyes to Addie and KT and took a bunch of pictures it was already 5:30am. By the time we checked in to the hospital and registered and got to the delivery room it was after 6:00am. At that point contractions were still very mild, totally tolerable and spaced out. So, we settled in and I got hooked up to the monitor expecting to be in for a really long long long day! At that point the midwife and nurse didn't even think it was neccessary to check me since it was all still very early.

Starting around 7am the contractions suddenly went from 1 to about 5 on the pain scale. By 7:30am they were definitly an 8. A few minutes before the top of the the hour the contractions were suddenly incredibly intense and if the chart went above the #10 so would my pain rating! So the midwife checked...only 7cm, darn! Not two seconds after being checked I had another contraction and knew that I was ready to go. Sure enough, that one contraction made the difference and all systems were a go! I was at 10cm. Two pushes later our little man evicted from the womb and in our arms at 8:00am!

It could not have gone more smoothly - thanks to my amazing labor support team (the hubs and my mommy) and the fantastic midwife and nurse team from South Shore Women's Health. With their support I was able to stick to my birth plan and was able to have another natural birth without an epidural or other pain intervention. Although, a few hands may have been squeezed a bit too tight in the process!
Here are some pictures of Mason's birth day:

We truly appreciate all of the phone calls, texts, and deliveries! Everyone has been asking when they can come and meet the little guy. We will be having an open house this Saturday 1/19 from 10-2pm for anyone that wants to swing by and see our snuggle bug. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we take the week to settle in. It is important to us as a family to have some quiet time together to help Addie in the transition, figure out a nursing routine, and of course rest up!

In the meantime I'll work on getting some more solo shots of Mason posted for your viewing pleasure! Stay tuned :)

Waiting on a Baby

Well, we're three days past due now and still waiting on a baby! I have another appointment on Monday and at that point we'll discuss possible induction. I worked up until the beginning of this week and now I am passing the time cleaning, doing laundry, spending time with my mom and playing and snuggling with my sweet Addie Mae.

Since my little man is taking his sweet time making an appearance we decided to snap a few more belly pics! Hopefully my next post will be of his handsome face and cute little toes!

Bumps & Babes

As much as I want my little man to make his big debut I am thankful that I was able to make the trip down to one of my bestie's baby shower. Britta is due next month with her little baby boy and she looks pretty darn amazing! We snapped this shot of the two of us. It is most likely my last (decent) belly shot before this little guy arrives! Can't wait for the two of them to meet!
